Worker file the edges of cricket bats to a smooth finish at a factory in Meerut, 80 km (50 miles) northeast of Delhi, January 31, 2011, as cricket equipment makers race to meet a demand surge ahead of the Cricket World Cup. BDM, a family cricket equipment business for almost 90 years, has made bats, balls and other equipment for most of India’s top cricketers, and international stars such as Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya and the West Indies legend Brian Lara. The company produces an average of 150,000 bats and 220,000 balls every year, using willow from England and India’s northern Kashmir region. Ten percent of its products are exported, mainly to the cricketing heartlands of the UK, Australia and neighbours Pakistan and Bangladesh. Picture taken January 31, 2011.

Josep Guardiola signed his new contract today, which links him to Barcelona FC until the summer of 2012. Incredible how a kid that started as a ‘ball boy’ for the team he loved turned out to be the one of the most successful coaches in Barcelona’s history. On the picture; really young Guardiola behind Victor Munoz, one of his childhood idols, after qualifying for the Champions League Final in 1986. Guardiola, a ‘ball boy’ at the time was already one of the most promising midfielders on Barcelona’s academy. Click on the picture to see a video of Guardiola’s ‘last passes’.

Josep Guardiola ha firmado su renovacion hoy como entrenador del Barcelona, lo cual liga al entrenador con el Barcelona hasta el verano de 2012. Es increible como Guardiola ha pasado de recogepelotas ha ser uno de los mejores entrenadores de la historia del Barcelona. En la foto se puede ver a un jovencisimo Guardiola detras de Victor Munoz, uno de sus heroes de la infancia, despues de que el Barcelona se clasificara para la final de la Copa de Europe de 1986. Por aquella epoca Guardiola era una de las mayores promesas de la cantera del Barcelona, ademas de ser uno de los recogepelotas en los fines de semana.
